The final match of the season for our U14’s took place at the Herefordshire golf club in glorious sunshine. It was a final U14 match for a number of the team and we were looking to finish the season unbeaten and on a high.

Worcestershire were up early on in the first match with an excellent birdie on the first from our captain Alex Perry. However, a tremendous eagle on the 4th saw the S&H boys turn the match and although both Alex & Oskar held some clutch putts they ended up losing 4&3. The next match saw Oliver Badger and Alex Mcveigh take an early lead on the 3rd after a cracking 20ft putt from Ollie. This was probably the best match of the day as it remained very tight throughout. S&H went dormie two on the 17th which sparked an excellent response from the Worcestershire boys. After a beautiful drive and approach shot on the last Alex Mcveigh had two putts to halve the match and he did so in style to earn a fantastic draw. In the next match Harry Evans and Nicholas Campbell were down most the front nine before staging a great comeback to make the match all square on the 15th hole. The S&H boys then won the 16th before the Worcestershire boys won the 17th and took the match all square down the last. Despite a solid par from Harry the S&H player made an 8ft putt for birdie to win the match. Next up was a really strong performance from both Jake Jeff-Johnston and Logan Lawless. Jake was playing some of the best golf on the day and the Worcestershire boys were on top early on. After being 3up through 15 holes both Jake and Logan put the pressure on with glorious shots on the 16th to run out 4&2 winners. Finally, Beau Langford and Max Wesley had a tricky match giving away a lot of shots in the last match. Beau played a lovely shot into the 3rd green to win the hole and take an early lead but the S&H boys soon found their form and won a series of holes on the bounce. The match finished 5&3 on the 15th but the Worcestershire boys can hold their heads up high after playing some great golf.

Congratulations to all the U14 players on an outstanding season and good luck to all those players moving on from this age category.  My thanks go to the course for such fantastic hospitality and to the parents for all their support. I would also like to thank our junior organiser Mark Hewlett Snr for all his hard work behind the scenes and to Mark Evans for his help on the day.
