First league game of the new season saw us take on Nottinghamshire away at Coxmoor golf club. The team enjoyed a practise round on Saturday to get prepared for a tough game on Sunday.

Morning foursomes started with our First match of Ben Woodward & Nathan Slater going all the way and getting half a point. Adam Norman & Richard Sadler went all the way as well unfortunately loosing 1 down, 3^rd pairing of Kieron Austin & Greg Higgitt went down 2&1 in a close game. 4^th Pairing of Jack Severn & Steven Lane brought a point home with a 2&1 victory, with our final pairing of Matt Brookbanks & Kris Allen going all the way & gaining half a point. 2.5-2.5 at the lunchtime break which is a great start away from home against a strong Nottinghamshire side.

Quick turn around for the singles saw Adam Norman out trap one in a tight game loosing 2&1, Ben Woodward out trap 2 with the exact same result doing down 2&1.  Steven lane trap 3 brought the first afternoon point to Worcestershire with a 4&3 victory (up the order for you next game Laney)! Richard Sadler going all the way down 18 gaining half a point in trap 4. Trap 5 saw Kieron Austin gain an afternoon point winning 2&1, Nathan Slater also bringing a point home for Worcestershire with a fine 3&1 victory at trap 6. Very close game and all going down to the last few games….. Jack Severn in trap 7 loosing 2 down & Greg Higgitt in trap 8 going down 3&2 saw Nottinghamshire take the edge with 2 games left to play. A hard-fought game for Kris Allen against a home club member loosing 3&1, Matt Brookbanks in Trap 10 going all the way down 18 gaining half a point for Worcestershire.

Final result of 8.5-6.5 in Nottinghamshire favour but an excellent effort from the Worcestershire players. Massive thank you to Coxmoor Golf Club, the course was in excellent condition & all staff extremely helpful throughout the day.

Second league game is a home fixture at Hagley Golf club.
